Dominique and Daniel’s love story began one summer night on July 27, 2019.

Daniel was home for the first time after being fresh out of basic training and home for three days to attend his best friend and cousin’s wedding.

Daniel found himself at Steff and Brandon’s after-wedding party at Queen City Radio in Ohio. What he didn’t know is his future wife was tables away spending the night out with coworkers, as she was new to town working at the Cincinnati Johnson & Johnson office.

Daniel and his friends were enjoying the lively atmosphere, unaware of Dominique noticing him from across the bar. Never making a first move before, she tried to catch his attention with a subtle glance, which she later found out that he thought was being directed to someone else!

She knew that if she didn’t at least try she would regret it for the rest of her life thinking what if?

She looks at the table of friends and says, “I’m going to try and talk to him!”

With mixed confidence and zero experience of making the first move in the bar, she walked up next to him and gave him a minute or two to see if he would start up a conversation first. We’ll blame it on the late night, but still nothing!

She seized the opportunity while he was about to order a drink and quickly asked what he was drinking. “We’ll take a Jack & Coke and a Moscow Mule please.”

This turned into a short friendly conversation with numbers being exchanged, as he only had one last day to spend with his friends before being sent to Hawaii for his orders.

Little did they know this would be their last in-person encounter for the next two years due to COVID locking down Hawaii, while Dominique was in New York finishing her MBA.

Despite the physical distance, and a six hour time difference, they spoke all day/everyday getting closer than ever imaginable.

After travel restrictions were lifted, Dan made his way to New Jersey, reuniting with Dominique in 2022 for New Years Eve and her birthday.

Fast forward to 2023. Dan was stationed in Colorado Springs. They found it easier to spend in-person time together. Yet, their journey was still filled with challenges when Dan received deployment orders for 10 months in Korea, testing the strength of their relationship once more.

Despite the trials of separation and countless care packages to each other, their love only grew stronger.

They continued to visit each other whenever possible after deployment, bridging the gaps with unwavering commitment and planning their future along the way.
